Dream House

Built in 1975, this handmade cabin is a true Austin original. High on charm and replete with all the modern comforts you'd expect, recent updates include custom kitchen and gorgeous built-in woodwork throughout. Although the space is located just thirty minutes from downtown Austin, you'll be utterly transported by the wooded setting and shimmering lake views. The cabin is adorned with vintage textiles from around the world, handmade piece from makers near and far, and natural elements that highlight the rustic beauty of the space. The large covered patio is the perfect place to start the morning with a cup of coffee and unwind at the end of the day as you watch the hill country sunset. The house features a light-filled master bedroom and reading loft, antique clawfoot bathtub, custom-built kitchen, dining area that seats four, as well as a living room and spacious covered patio. The second bedroom stands apart from the main house, and offers ample privacy. The kitchen is fully stocked with Canyon coffee, organic herbal tea, and everything you'll need to cook a gourmet meal. During your stay you'll have full use of the four burner electric stove, convection oven, mini fridge, outdoor chest freezer, stainless steel pots and pans, high quality chef's knives, stoneware, wine glasses, french press and pour-over. Due to the delicate nature of the home and vintage furnishings this space is not suitable for children. We ask that you do not flush anything down the toilet besides small amounts of toilet paper as you will be charged for any plumbing issues that arise during your stay. Do not cut directly on the countertop. Please use cutting board provided. All windows in the house are vintage. Please use great care when opening and closing them. Candles and incense are prohibited on the property. Please be mindful of noise and turn off all outdoor music after 10pm. No unauthorized guests are allowed on the property. If an unauthorized guest is present on the property there will be a charge of $100 per night per guest. No unauthorized pets are allowed on the property. If an unauthorized pet is present on the property the guest will be charged a fee of $100 per night per pet. No unauthorized parties, gatherings, or photo shoots are allowed in the space. If a party or gathering occurs you will be charged $500 + any damages that occur. In order to honor our cleaner’s schedule we are only able to accommodate one “reservation change request” per reservation and cannot guarantee any changes will be accepted within fourteen days of your reservation. : : B A T H R O O M : : *IMPORTANT* We are on an older septic system and have delicate plumbing. We kindly ask that you flush only small amounts of toilet paper to prevent any issues during your stay. When running a bath during the colder months you may need to reduce the flow of the tap to achieve the desired temperature. Rest assured there is plenty of hot water, it may just take a while for the bath to fill! Additionally, please note that the bathroom features an elegant antique clawfoot tub but does not have a shower. The outdoor tub is an absolute dream and we can’t wait for you to experience it! Please note that during periods when temps are below freezing (a rarity in Austin) the tub is not available for use as we have to drain the lines to protect our plumbing! : : F R A G R A N C E : : We pride ourselves on being a synthetic-fragrance free space. We use all-natural cleaning products and ask that you refrain from using strong perfumes or other products that may leave a scent that lingers after you've checked out. : : H E AT I NG / C O O L I N G : : There are two mini-splits located in the main house that are operated by remote control to heat and cool the space. The second bedroom features a window AC unit and space heater. : : N O I S E : : Please note that the cabin is not suitable for those looking for total silence during their stay. While the space is quite peaceful most of the time, we are situated within earshot of houses that occasionally host large parties. We recommend booking mid-week to reduce the likelihood of any late night noise. : : W I L D L I F E : : We are proud to steward wild land where many creatures make their home. Please respect the deer, armadillos, and any other animals you see on the property by giving them space and refraining from feeding them. : : S W I M M I N G : : The cabin is located in within walking distance of Hippie Hollow (clothing optional) and Windy Point. Both require a small entrance fee so be sure to bring cash if you’d like to visit either park. : : P E S T S : : The cabin is routinely treated for pests using non-toxic compounds. However, it is located in a wooded setting and it is possible you may see some critters in or around the space during your stay. If this is the case, please let us know and we will have our team come out to re-treat the house ASAP. : : P H O T O S : : No unauthorized photoshoots are permitted on the property. If you plan to use the space for professional photo or video content you must receive prior consent and pay any applicable fees. Additional fees are based on the nature of the photo shoot and intended usage of photos. Please inquire for details. : : A L L E R G I E S : : Please note that this cabin is not suitable for anyone who suffers from Juniper (aka Cedar) allergies. The house is located in a heavily wooded area and as such, exposure to pollen is inevitable. : : C H E C K O U T : : Checkout is at 11 am. If you are still on the property after checkout, you will be charged for an additional night. We take this very seriously as we need adequate time to clean the space and prepare for our next guests.
